Handball – Lots of goals, lots of betting opportunities

Handball is one of Europe’s most popular team ball sports and particularly liked in countries such as France, Germany, Spain, Denmark and Sweden. The rules were first made official in the late 19th century with the International Handball Federation later formed in 1946 and currently has almost 200 member federations.

It’s been an Olympic sport on a full-time basis since the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich for men and since the 1976 Summer Olympics for women. At the Olympics, there has been no massively dominant team in terms of taking home the gold medal with France, the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and Croatia all winning it twice each and no team more than that. The women’s event has seen Denmark take gold on three occasions and South Korea, Norway and the Soviet Union each winning it on two.
